Our attorneys regularly assist clients in reviewing claims tendered, determining coverage and assessing extra-contractual exposure for carriers across all lines of business in primary and excess markets. We provide cost effective legal and strategic advice to assist claims professionals achieve prompt and fair resolution of all claims. Detailed claims analysis and consultation helps clients avoid bad faith exposures. Our attorneys have litigated coverage and extra-contractual matters across the United States, and take an aggressive and proactive approach to defending such claims in state and federal courts and in administrative proceedings.
Mary Porter, whose experience includes in-house claims and legal management roles, is an experienced and trained mediator. She uses her knowledge of coverage and claims matters to assist carriers in resolving disputes about coverage and other issues without the time, expense and risk of litigation.
The practice group supports insurers with product development and underwriting issues, including drafting of policy forms and riders, completing filings and necessary certifications, and negotiating and resolving issues to secure product approvals.
We also work with carrier’s claims staff and in-house counsel in performing target audits of claims files, detailed best practices reviews, and training programs to ensure that our clients are compliant with state insurance laws and regulations when making coverage determinations and claim decisions.
