Robert H. Levan

Robert H. Levan is Of Counsel to Funk & Bolton, P.A., resident in the firm's Columbia office and a member of the firm's local government law practice area. He was a principal in Levan, Ferguson & Levan, P.A. from March 2001 until June 2007. Before that, he served six years with the Baltimore firm of Miles & Stockbridge. P.C. after being a principal in Levan, Schimel, Belman & Abramson, P.A., and its predecessor firm for 21 years. Prior to entering private practice, he served as Deputy Assistant General Counsel with the National Labor Relation Board and General Counsel for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.

During his career in private practice, Mr. Levan has represented clients in local government, land use and labor and employment matters. He currently serves as City Attorney for the City of Bowie and has served as City Attorney for the City of College Park and several small municipalities. He has served as an arbitrator in both labor and commercial matters for the American Arbitration Association and served a term as Vice Chair of the GAO Personnel Appeals Board. He also was People's Zoning Counsel for Prince George's County from 1975 to 1982.

Mr. Levan is a founder and general counsel to the Corridor Transportation Corporation, a non-profit, public/private partnership providing bus service to residents of four counties within the Baltimore-Washington Corridor. He is currently a director and counsel to First Generation College Bound, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing college opportunities for young adults from families without higher education experience. Mr. Levan has also been a member of the Baltimore-Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce since 1981 and served as Board Chair in 1985.
