The Maryland Insurance Commissioner recently ruled a complaint concerning termination of benefits under a disability insurance policy was barred by administrative collateral estoppel. Bryan D. Bolton represented the insurer in this matter.

The Maryland Insurance Commissioner recently dismissed a complaint alleging an insurer (represented by Derek B. Yarmis) refused to accept surety business for an arbitrary, capricious, unfair or discriminatory reason. An administrative law judge found the complainant's original submission for business incomplete and, therefore, insufficient to trigger the "first-in rule."
